Late one afternoon, a few weeks after the conference [where a guest speaker had instructed us in the art of public speaking] , the phone rang. Was it someone wanting to make an appointment? Was it someone wanting to sell me some advertising space? No, it was someone who asked if I would like to give a talk to a small group……….that evening!
I was a bit flustered, I hadn’t actually given a talk before, and I felt quite flattered that they should ask me, so of course I said ‘Yes!’
