On the Practical Course, the Deep Relaxation (progressive relaxation / walk up hill) is demonstrated on volunteer patients. On three separate occasions I count 5-1 and ask the patient to open their eyes and three times to count 1-5 to get them to close them again.
On almost every course, someone queries the reason for including this technique and voices concerns that this must disturb or hinder the patient’s relaxation.
