The Sunday Times ‘Style’ magazine of December 3rd, 2000 reports that a study in Australia has found that counselling can make people feel worse.

One thousand women who had undergone traumatic childbirth experiences were split into two groups only one of which was given counselling.

After 6 months it was found that the counselled group were suffering a higher level of stress than the group who were left to get on with their lives.
