Using Testimonials

Question:
Can anybody give any advice on testimonials. I am aware of the rules around privacy and confidentiality, but can I use quotations from clients without permission or do I need to gain an individuals consent?

I was looking to use some words or a line from letters on information I send out and my web site and simply finish with “Mrs H from Hereford” for example. Is this ok?
