‘J’ begun treatment for her Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a volunteer patient on the Autumn 2014 Practical Course and the entire course of treatment (from initial consultation through to completion) was witnessed by the students and Teacher’s Assistant.
The therapist providing this treatment was Helen Lesser. With J’s permission, the treatment was recorded and Emily Fennell transcribed the resultant audio file. The following is therefore a verbatim report of the exact treatment received by J.

The following transcript shows how the treatment progressed through SRBC and how the various incidents referred to were analysed, found to not be the Causative Event and, so instead, how they were used to target the questioning towards more productive information.
This session also shows one way of progressing questioning when the Reason was stated as being needed to prevent emotional pleasure/enjoyment from being experienced by the patient.
