‘J’ begun treatment for her Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a volunteer patient on the Autumn 2014 Practical Course and the entire course of treatment (from initial consultation through to completion) was witnessed by the students and Teacher’s Assistant.
The therapist providing this treatment was Helen Lesser. With J’s permission, the treatment was recorded and Emily Fennell transcribed the resultant audio file. The following is therefore a verbatim report of the exact treatment received by J.

This, the 6th appointment, shows how the SRBC was followed, how incidents similar to those referred to in earlier sessions were dismissed and how the treatment was refocused, the target of questioning re-directed to obtain the Causative Event, to proceed with reinterpretation and symptom disposal.
