‘J’ begun treatment for her Irritable Bowel Syndrome as a volunteer patient on the Autumn 2014 Practical Course and the entire course of treatment (from initial consultation through to completion) was witnessed by the students and Teacher’s Assistant.
The therapist providing this treatment was Helen Lesser. With J’s permission, the treatment was recorded and Emily Fennell transcribed the resultant audio file. The following is therefore a verbatim report of the exact treatment received by J.

This, the 7th appointment, was a very short session, lasting only 12 minutes in total. J had stated at the beginning that she had bad stomach ache and wasn’t sure she would be able to relax. We went ahead anyway – but she was clearly experiencing some discomfort (Q48 onwards) and stopped the therapy. We resumed the treatment again on the following day – see final transcript.
