Question: One of my patients contacts me after each session, always with the same questions and concerns. Each time I say the same thing to him and give him the reassurance he obviously needs – but am I missing something?
Is there something else I could be saying to him so that he doesn’t keep asking the same question? His question always relates to the information he’s provided during the session and his concerns that the information is contradictory or unhelpful or wrong. He relaxes beautifully, I’m confident his reactions are subconscious (IMR) – so his worries are unfounded.
He may accept the reassurance better if you explain to him WHY his information can appear to be conflicting or contradictory.
This reassurance and explanation should include the two major reasons for the seemingly confusing information:-
