Worry Over Conscious Intervention

When using IMR to investigate the cause, the patient is aware of the answers being provided. She does not appear to be interfering with the responses, how do I ensure this is so and what changes can I make to the treatment in order to stop her worrying?

Question:  The patient is concerned because she is aware of the answers she is giving, and is worrying that she’s consciously interfering. We’re on session 5 and doing fine.

She says that she drifts off somewhere else completely during the 1-7 induction – she had no idea that I was still doing the 1-5 count after that! But as soon as I mention that I’m about to start questioning, she ‘comes back’ and pays attention.
