Direct and Indirect Emotions

Explanation of the difference between emotions which caused an effect at the time of an incident and the emotions which played a part in creating the symptom and how these different roles play their own distinct part in LCH treatment.

I understand that there is difference between the two questions:-

“Was [x] the emotion which had the greatest effect on you at that time?”

And

“Was [x] the emotion which had the greatest effect in causing you to go on and develop your [symptom]?”

But I’m not entirely clear that I fully get what that difference means. Could you explain it a little more?

 


Emotions have two different and distinct roles in LCH treatment. You may find it helpful to refer to these by two different names, thus keeping them separate to each other.
